The Royal College of Radiologists have adapted the FRCR 2b course to run in an electronic format. The rapid reporting and long case components of the exam have been incorporated into the electronic format for the last 3 exams and from Spring 2013, the vivas will also be delivered in this format. The college has adopted the Osirix software package to manage and present cases using a Mac platform. This system has proved adaptable and user friendly, but requires a knowledge of Mac Hardware, a considerable insight into the functionality of Osirix, allied to issues relating to data confidentiality, data editing, presentation of data in an examination environment and archiving.
This first course will build a knowledge base through a brief introduction to using Macs and then onward through uploading, anonymising, editing and displaying images. It is aimed primarily at Radiologists involved in teaching and examination.
Common faults and difficulties will be addressed.
There are enough Macs for everyone to have their own computer, assuming a 24 person maximum, so places will be allocated on a first come basis. If you wish to use your own mac laptop, please inform us in advance. There will be opportunities to work on your own cases and a selection provided by the course some of which will be studded with faults or issues that will have to be corrected, you will supported by the on site team who have a wide experience with this system.
Optional sessions to address personal interest or requirements will be included on the last day.
We hope that this course will provide the expertise to enable the attendees to confidently accrue a teaching archive, edit data into a presentable examination format and feel comfortable examining in this format
There will be a hosted meal on the first evening of the course at a local hostelry.
