Urology Ultrasound Course

The Peninsula Radiology Academy is holding a Urology Ultrasound course on (future dates yet to be set).  The course is aimed at urology trainees or consultants who wish to gain knowledge into the theoretical and practical aspects of ultrasound relevant to urology.

The course is based on the training requirements for level 1 practice in ultrasound as set out by the EFSUMB (European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine) guidelines.This curriculum is intended for clinicians who perform diagnostic nephrological and/or urological ultrasound and includes standards for theoretical knowledge and practical skills. At least level 1 competence should be obtained by anyone performing nephro-urological scans unsupervised.     

The course includes:

 

1. Theoretical aspects of ultrasound scanning including the physics knowledge requirements and the clinical disease base and their ultrasound manifestations required for level 1 practice.

 

2. Small group consultant led practical sessions with plenty of opportunity for hands on experience.

 

3. Lunch and refreshments each day

 

4. Evening course dinner on the Tuesday night at a restaurant in Plymouth

 

The venue is a state of the art Radiology training facility in Plymouth, near Derriford Hospital. Travel links are excellent as the Academy is only 1.2 miles from Plymouth airport and 4.2 miles from Plymouth train station. Accommodation is available within 5-10 minutes walk. BMUS (British Medical Ultrasound Society) accreditation for this course has been applied for.
